Church Leadership Qualities

To make a difference through ministry, breaking through with the love of Christ, then you, as a church leader, need to be the kind of leader whose heart beats with the heart of God and who serves in ways that point people to Jesus and not yourself. To do that you need to break through the walls in your own life to be the kind of leader who makes a difference.

Your role as a church leader grows out of who you are more than what you do. As such, you will be . . .

An Example who exemplies Christ-like qualities
... not an egomaniac, not self-promoting - You will have the right objectives.

A Guide who points people to Christ, the Head of the Body
... not a controller, not self-empowering - You will have the right perspective.
More on Leaders being a Guide
A Servant who gives of himself to people like Christ gave of Himself
... not a exploiter, not self-indulging - You will have the right heart.
A Shepherd who loves the flock as Christ does
... not a people-pleaser, not self-protective - You will have the right motivation.
Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers --not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away. (1 Pet. 5:2-4)
