If you want someone to listen, look for a person with the spiritual gift of wisdom. Of all the gifts, it is the one of which we find listening specifically tied to the essence of that gift. So, it only makes sense listening<\/a> would be a quality in someone with the spiritual gift of wisdom.<\/p>\n

\"Want
\nLet the wise listen<\/strong> and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance. (Prov. 1:5)<\/p>\n

The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out<\/strong>. (Prov. 18:15)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Why Seek a Person with the Spiritual Gift of Wisdom When You Want Someone to Listen<\/h2>\n

A desire to help needs to be coupled with knowledge — what’s truly happening, how people feel, etc. — “Desire without knowledge is not good – how much more will hasty feet miss the way!” (Prov. 19:2) — We gain knowledge by listening.<\/p>\n

A person with the spiritual gift of wisdom therefore will seek to gain knowledge and understanding before speaking or acting. “To answer before listening – that is folly and shame” (Ps. 18:13), not the mark of someone with wisdom. Of utmost importance, the person with the gift of wisdom listens to God. Ultimately it’s His wisdom that needs to be applied to any given situation. Yet, Scripture does also point to our need to listen to what others say before reacting. — “Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak … ” (James 1:19-20)<\/p>\n

Clearly Scripture suggests listening should be a part of all of our lives, with or without the gift of wisdom. While someone with the gift of wisdom should find themselves carefully paying attention to what’s being said due to the very nature of that gift, others with different gifts may have to work harder at listening.<\/p>\n
