Staff evaluations grow old when always done the same way, asking the same questions each time. Why not change it up by using different criteria, like, for example, the effect of people’s ministry on the name of the Lord<\/a>.

\nScripture makes it clear that we should do everything to, for, and in the name of the Lord (Ps. 115:1; 31:3; Col. 3:17). Shouldn’t we want to make sure our ministry staff are doing that?<\/p>\n

Staff evaluations go beyond merely assessing their ministry to setting goals to improve. We should not, however, be making it about a self-improvement plan but rather finding “help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth” (Ps. 124:8). So, why not look at people’s ministries in light of His Name?<\/p>\n

Questions to Ask in Staff Evaluations about the Effect of Their Ministry on the Name of the Lord<\/h2>\n

We might ask staff questions similar those that follow. The first question(s) in each point is more of an assessment question whereas the second is more about setting a goal to improve. As such, the suggested process for using the questions would be to ask the first bullet question(s). Then read the Scripture, followed by the second question.<\/p>\n

1) Glory to His Name<\/p>\n

Not to us, LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness. (Ps. 115:1)<\/em>
\nWe pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Thess. 1:12)<\/em><\/p>\n
