When we take our role as stewards<\/a> seriously, it shows itself in all we do, including the writing and use of job descriptions.<\/p>\n

Stewardship of the Big Picture Demonstrated in the Writing of Job Descriptions<\/h2>\n

\"FaithfulChurch leaders tend to many details, all of which must come under the authority of the Lord who is the Head of the Church (Col. 1:18). It’s His Church, not ours. Being a faithful steward goes beyond what we do to how we steer others toward Him. We use various means to do so.<\/p>\n

As stewards, then, we seek to align even the writing of job descriptions with God’s intent for the Church such as His …<\/p>\n

\nmission of the Church<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Since we’re entrusted with that which belongs to Him, it only makes sense that we reflect Him in all we do. As faithful stewards, we pass on that expectation to those engaged in ministry by designing job descriptions to include Christ-like traits<\/a> needed for effective ministry.<\/p>\n

Jesus, the Head of the Church, made it clear that apart from Him we can do nothing (Jn. 15:5). We therefore set the expectation of the need to rely on God’s power<\/a> to accomplish responsibilities within the job description.<\/p>\n

Stewards of Our People Resources Demonstrated in How We Use Job Descriptions<\/h2>\n

Good stewards not only write job descriptions to faithfully come under the Headship of Christ, but also use them in ways that demonstrate His heart for people. God has made us stewards of His “flock”, putting them under our care, an entrustment of people, not merely of tasks to accomplish (1 Pet. 5:2-3).<\/p>\n

Knowing that God has gifted people to serve in various capacities (1 Cor. 12:4-11), faithful stewards want to wisely place the right people into the right ministries. Using job descriptions listing spiritual gifts<\/a> that best fit the position, can help us avoid the temptation to simply fill positions.<\/p>\n

Faithful stewards serve more as “examples to the flock” than controllers (1 Pet. 5:3). We’re thereby careful not to use job descriptions as a means of “lording” over people. Rather, we use them as tools to enable them. Good stewards of people resources use job descriptions to …<\/p>\n
