While there may be times we need to adapt and compromise in our decisions, adding something not originally intended to be a part of the solution can be a result of politics. Think of how much “pork” is added to bills in the name of compromise in the the political realm, tacking on someone’s personal agenda to get that individual’s\u00a0vote. Their decision had nothing to do with what was for the good of all but for personal gain. Similarly, church leaders might try to retrofit decisions they need to make to appeal to the masses just so they can get people in the front door, volunteering, or whatever else is needed, but basically what they are doing is playing politics.<\/p>\n

Christ-like Decision-Making Guards Against Retrofitted Decisions made for Political Gain:<\/h2>\n

Read through the Gospels and you will quickly learn that Jesus called it like it is. In helping others make a decision about following Him, He let people know what they would be getting into, giving them the choice to buy into the decision or not (Lk. 9:57-62). He did not tack on something that would appeal more to them just to get them to follow Him. He didn’t play politics.<\/p>\n
