God’s Power for the Church: The Gospel<\/a><\/center><\/div>\n

Sometimes in seeking to grow the church we look at some of the mega churches and see their use of high technology and lighting, of videos and other media in their teaching ministry, of music during the worship service having a concert feel to it, etc. We could wrongly conclude that in order to grow the church, we must provide quality entertainment or people won’t come. Smaller churches without the means for purchasing the equipment, software, and other resources or without the knowledgeable personnel to put it all together, might despair and blame that on why their churches aren’t growing.<\/p>\n

Yet, there has to be more than merely making people feel good and enjoy being there. What has been gained if people come and leave unchanged<\/a>? The objective of church growth efforts should be for lives to be transformed. How is that going to happen? — By the power of the Gospel, not by entertaining them.<\/p>\n

Understand the power of the Gospel and you won’t want to merely entertain people.<\/h2>\n

Church leaders, do you want to see your church grow? The Gospel message cannot get lost in all the trappings. The goal is that people believe, not that they be entertained. The Gospel “is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes” (Rom. 1:16).<\/p>\n

Yes, God can and has used various means to bring people to Himself, but the Gospel message must stay in focus.<\/p>\n

Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? (Rom. 10:13-14)<\/em><\/p>\n

Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. (Rom. 10:17)<\/em><\/p>\n

The Gospel message cannot get lost in all our programming and technology because the Gospel “is the power of God that brings salvation” (Rom. 1:16).<\/p>\n
