\nIn the name of the Lord<\/a> we find the power we need to navigate the change process. We mustn’t minimize the significance of doing whatever we do in His name (Col. 3:17). While we do find a number of provisions through the power of His name<\/a> to navigate the change process, it isn’t just about what it does for us. We must also consider doing whatever we do for the sake of His name.<\/p>\n

What It Means to Make Change for His Name’s Sake<\/h2>\n

When we make changes for His name’s sake, He becomes our primary concern or priority, not the changes we want to make. We’re most concerned with the honor and glory of His name than making a name for ourselves. Doing whatever we do in His name means He gets the credit, not us.<\/p>\n

Not to us, O LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness. (Ps. 115:1)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

When we make changes for His name’s sake, we turn to Him when trouble comes, not primarily for self-vindication, but so we don’t ruin our testimony or witness of Him. We’re more concerned about His glory than our own comfort or pleasure.<\/p>\n

Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me. (Ps. 31:3)<\/p>\n

For your name’s sake, O LORD, preserve my life; in your righteousness, bring me out of trouble. (Ps. 143:11)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

When we change for His name’s sake, the focus stays on Him, not on us. we find ourselves proclaiming His name and praising His name. We want others to know what HE has done, rather than make it about the innovations we’ve made.<\/p>\n

Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. (Ps. 105:1)<\/p>\n

We praise you, God, we praise you, for your Name is near; people tell of your wonderful deeds. (Ps. 75:1)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
