\nIdeally in looking for who to appoint as chairperson, we might want someone with leadership gifting. We must, however, understand the possible effects of those spiritual gifts<\/a> on the board or committee members.<\/p>\n

How the Chairperson Might Function Based on Leadership Gifting<\/h2>\n

The spiritual gift of administration<\/a> gives the chairperson the ability to organize and coordinate, great qualities to have for that position. They tend to be task-oriented.<\/p>\n

The spiritual gift of leadership<\/a> gives the chairperson the ability to see the possibilities and promote new or innovative ways of getting there. Hence, they tend to be more goal-oriented.<\/p>\n

The spiritual gift of pastor<\/a> gives the chairperson the ability to care for members of the board or committee and build an environment conducive to relationship-building. They tend to be very people-oriented.<\/p>\n

The Balance in Church Leadership Based on Spiritual Gifting<\/strong><\/a> resource considers how the orientations of these different types of leaders can affect members of the team. It suggests what might be needed to bring a greater balance. In addition, this resource looks at the approach of these three types of leaders in 14 other tasks or responsibilities.<\/p>\n
