In a prior post we considered how the Gospel was God’s big strategic plan<\/a> based on verses in the first chapter of Romans. If we broaden our scope, we find more lessons about strategic planning from the Gospel.<\/p>\n

3 Leadership Lessons about Strategic Planning from the Gospel<\/h2>\n

  1. Make sure the timing is right to implement the plan. The plan may be right but the time is not always right now.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Though God had a big strategic plan for the salvation of the world through the death of Jesus, He waited to send Jesus until the time was right. — “But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.”(Gal. 4:4-5)<\/p>\n

    1. Empower people to do what it takes to successfully implement the plans. Delegate the authority along with the responsibility. Encourage. Provide training and resources. Pray for and with them.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      God didn’t just send Jesus and expect people to work it all out on their own. — “Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel …” (Rom. 16:25-27). — He didn’t simply appoint people to proclaim His message without empowering them to do so. — “our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction.” (1 Thess. 1:5)<\/p>\n

      1. Accept that not everyone will be on board with your plans. Be prepared to face obstacles and resistance and don’t let it discourage you from doing what God wants you to do.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Though the Gospel is a glorious plan, available to all who believe, based on God’s grace, not everyone accepts it. The enemy does all He can to thwart God’s eternal plan of salvation but it remains to this day. — “And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” (2 Cor. 4:3-4)<\/p>\n
