About Church and Ministry Leaders

If you're a church or ministry leader, God has given you the awesome privilege and responsibility of serving and watching over His people "not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be" (1 Pet. 5:2). He has undoubtedly gifted you with either the personality and/or spiritual gifting to do so.

Keep Perspective About Being in a Leadership Position

Being a leader doesn't make you better or more important than any other member of the Body (Rom. 12, 1 Cor. 12). You simply have different responsibilities. It's not about how skilled or eloquent you are. Remember, God often chooses and uses "the lowly things of this world and the despised things - and the things that are not - to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him." (1 Cor. 1:25-29)
 
Also remember that you aren't the primary leader. Jesus is the Head of the Church (Eph. 1:22; Col. 1:18). He has preeminence so we do His bidding, aligning with His purposes, design, and mission for the Church, pulling on His power to do so. He is the Chief Shepherd (1 Pet. 5:4), making you an under-shepherd. You can only ask others to follow you as you "follow the example of Christ" (1 Cor. 11:1).
