Leadership Roles That Follow God's Heart and Make a Difference:
Your role as a church leader grows out of who you are more than what you do. As such, you will be . . .An Example who exemplifies Christ-like qualities
... not an egomaniac, not self-promoting - You will have the right objectives.
A Guide who points people to Christ, the Head of the Body... not a controller, not self-empowering - You will have the right approach.
A Servant who gives of yourself to people like Christ gave of Himself... not an exploiter, not self-indulging - You will have the right heart.
A Shepherd who loves the flock as Christ does... not a people-pleaser, not self-protective - You will have the right motivation.
A Steward who faithfully and diligently serves as one given an entrustment... not a slacker, not self-serving - You will have the right perspective.
Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers --not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away. (1 Pet. 5:2-4)
