In strategic planning, as in the whole of our lives, we must be careful not to merely follow the pattern we have in this world (Rom. 12:2) but rather be conformed to our Lord Jesus. Christ-likeness requires following the words and ways of Jesus but also His motivation and attitudes that grew out of His heart. Hence, we need to be changed, or transformed by the renewing of our mind, more and more into His character so we have His heart, attitude, or mindset in our planning — a Christ-like perspective.
What a Christ-like Perspective in Strategic Planning Is and Is Not
We need to conform to to Jesus, not the ways of the world. When we do, we’ll find the following traits exercised throughout the entire strategic planning process:
1) Integrity – Not Deceitful or Manipulative
2) Humble Servanthood – Not Arrogant or Headstrong
3) Commitment – Not Fickle or Floundering
