Spiritual Gifts Useful to Coordination

Share:

To truly coordinate our ministries takes steering the Church in that direction and equipping people to reach that goal. God provides spiritual gifting to do what it takes to become coordinated. So, what are the spiritual gifts useful to coordination?

Gifting for Steering the Church Toward Becoming Coordinated

By gifting, someone with the spiritual gift of administration is able to bring together varying parts so they are coordinated under a common purpose and mission. Similar to a helmsman who is in charge of getting a ship to its destination, someone with this gift should find themselves steering, or guiding, the Church in this direction.

It needs to be about more than coordinating tasks and schedules. All ministries and people need to come together as a coordinated whole to truly live in accordance with God’s design and intent for the Church. If individual ministries and people work independently, we’re missing out on the unity God intends for His people. But, when we all come under the umbrella of His purposes and mission, we attain more and more “to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ” (Eph. 4:13).

Equipping Spiritual Gifts Useful to Coordination

For the administrative efforts in steering the Church toward becoming a coordinated whole to be effective, it needs to be coupled with equipping. Members of the Body need to understand God’s intent and blueprint for the Church and their part in it. Otherwise, those with the gift of administration will face an uphill battle in reaching this goal.

Equipping Leading to CoordinationSo Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. (Eph. 4:11-13)

The Ministry Handbook: Spiritual Gifts in Use adds to the content in this post how the gifts listed in Ephesians 4 equip the Body to reach the kind of unity that causes us to be coordinated so we serve and grow together as one in Christ. The handbook also looks at gifting helpful in accomplishing 26 other specific tasks as well as the gifts most typically used in 16 broad ministry areas. Then you can know the people to recruit or delegate these responsibilities to based on who God has empowered to serve in these ways.
