Purpose Leads to Vision and Goals - Vision Casting is About CommunicatingAs leaders we need to take time to envision what God might want to do in and through our churches, in accordance with His purposes for the Church. That vision needs to be born out of prayer and faith in God’s power to accomplish it. Then we’re ready to establish goals to accomplish that vision. But, first we need to do some vision casting in ways that not only bring others in the Body on board but also encourage them to become a part of the process.

Steps for Vision Casting

Even before engaging in strategic planning for how to implement goals, we need to start casting the vision with the Body. Here are steps we need to take:

  • Communicate, communicate, communicate the vision. Ask others to be praying.
  • Prioritize, setting short-term and long-term goals based on need.
  • Communicate, communicate, communicate the vision. Ask others to be praying.
  • Then we’re ready to engage in strategic planning for those goals that can and should be immediately realized.
  • Communicate, communicate, communicate the vision. Ask others to be praying.
  • And don’t forget to move into action.
  • Once again, communicate, communicate, communicate the vision. Ask others to be praying.

Hopefully you have gotten the point of how vital communication and prayer are to vision casting. If we want people to come on board, they need to know the whys and wherefores as well as the objectives. Skills of persuasion aren’t enough. Pray God makes hearts pliable to what He wants to do and that He protects the Body from misunderstandings and divisions. The objective is to get people on page with God, not us. Keep perspective.

Vision casting doesn’t stop once we start strategic planning or move into action. We need to keep communicating and inviting people to partner through prayer. We want the passion to be sustained. We want to be able to recruit people to participate in the accomplishment of the goals. We want God to be given the glory. Consequently, we need to communicate, communicate, and communicate the vision, expressing faith in God to guide and provide. We must ask others to keep praying as well.
