Yes, we have a powerful God who works in us and through us, able to do far beyond what we could ever imagine (Eph. 3:20), but He is also a God of order, not of disorder or confusion (1 Cor. 14:33).
Consequently, God’s power and organizational skills should not be viewed as exclusive to one another.
Reconciling God’s Power and Organizational Skills
God Himself displays organizational abilities. Look at creation. Look at the ministry of Jesus on this earth. Leaders should want to hone their organizational skills to align with the ways of God, not to make themselves look good, nor to follow worldly business practices. Motivation matters. Yet, at the same time, we must pull on the power of God. If we start relying on organization rather than the power of God, we’ll no longer function like the living organism He designed the Church to be.
The Steering the Church Toward God’s Power Leadership Guide challenges us to pull on God’s power in our organizational efforts noting what happens when we’re not organized yet showing how we can keep on track by pulling on His power. This resource also points to the need for God’s power in 24 other leadership tasks and responsibilities.
