Often there’s ministry in the church and then there’s facilities management and building maintenance. In essence, when we compartmentalize different tasks in the church that way, it’s as though we’re saying we don’t need God’s power in that area like we do in other areas. Then, we treat it merely like a business or worldly endeavor.
Why We Need to View Facilities Management & Building Maintenance as a Ministry

If we do “all” we do “for the glory of God” (1 Cor. 10:31) and “whatever” we do is to be done in Jesus’ name (Col. 3:17), all and whatever includes facilities management and building maintenance.
If we purpose to love the Lord with “all” of who we are and to love people in true ministry (Matt. 22:37-40), then even setting up, cleaning, sanitizing, and everything else that goes into the building gets done for that purpose.
When Facilities Management & Building Maintenance is Viewed as a Ministry
Since we can do nothing of eternal value apart from God’s power (Jn. 15:5), then we will seek to do even facilities management and maintenance through the strength and grace He supplies. Since spiritual gifts are God’s empowerment for His people to do ministry, then we won’t take an “anybody will do” approach to recruiting people for tasks related to the building. We will seek people with appropriate spiritual gifts.

Praise God for your heart to be a Facility Manager who makes an eternal difference!
Planning on starting a ministry in our church to deal with overall facility maintenance and care. Does anyone have a name suggestion for such a ministry?
To emphasize that it is indeed a ministry, consider using the word “ministry” or “servants” or similar in the name. Creative names are great but may not reinforce this emphasis. Using an AI app like BibleGPT-LA gives some suggestions with this kind of emphasis. Here are 10 ideas when putting in “names for a church facility maintenance ministry” in that app which you could use as given or make slight tweaks to:
1. Stewards of the Sanctuary
2. Housekeepers for the Lord
3. Faithful Facility Team
4. Temple Care Crew
5. God’s Housekeepers Ministry
6. The Maintenance Ministry
7. The Servant Hands Team
8. The Caretakers of Christ’s House
9. Sanctuary Support Ministry
10. The Building Blessers
Thanks, will certainly give these some consideration. Definitely will have ministry as part of name.
